Soft and feminine girl meets edgy girl.

All my life I’ve been the one who has worn soft tones, preferred organic and girlie accessories, and in the brown vs. black debate I have always, always been brown.

And now, here I am, wearing spiky, angular accessories, with all lace and ruffles banished from my wardrobe.  (Well at least the last 3 capsules.) My regular rotation involves a lot more monochromatic combos, and some downright -dare I say it?- tomboyish vibe.  It’s more different than I have ever shopped or dressed, but this is the most at home I have ever felt in my clothes.  And it feels so good.  Even better – it kills the comparison game. I’m not worrying about how I stack up to others, too similar or too different, or too ‘whatever’ when I am just busy being me.

Creating a capsule wardrobe has been the single-biggest style definer of my life.  I could not have done it without the help and step-by-step guide by lovely and talented Caroline of Unfancy.  Emptying my closet, and hanging up all my favorites and go-to’s was truly eye opening. (More on my process HERE.) Learning to trust my instincts has been priceless.  Feeling more like “me” in my own clothes is gold.  Having a capsule wardrobe allows me to take my mind off what I am wearing and allows me to be the best version of me, with a confident boost to boot!  Now if only my hair would get the memo…

PS, this is the best red lipstick I’ve every purchased.  It took me a few years to find it, but every time I put it on, I feel like a sexy, grown-up woman with a bit of edge.
