the Weekly Rundown: Postpartum Bodies and Responsible Jeans

Seasons and salt blog

Motherhood isn’t something I write about a lot here on Seasons + Salt, and that is partly because it’s my escape from it. I loooove my children fiercely, but I need to be a separate person apart from them, and my blog is a large part of where I do that. However, on the topic of motherhood: I often struggle to find the balance between raising my three little people and pursuing my passions. Logistically, it is very challenging. How does one be a loving, present mom while pursuing her passions? Shauna Niequist shares why she thinks it’s vital to find a way to do both. >>Read It

Postpartum bodies come in many shapes. Odds are, if you’ve carried another human in your body, your shape has changed. The question that always begs my attention is: should one embrace it? Or work to improve it? This thought-provoking essay contends the former and is a lovely reflection on life and love. >>Read It

When referring to minimalism most of us think of stuff, but did you know many people approach their lifestyles and calendars with minimalism in mind? In a culture that nearly exalts busyness, a movement of minimalism is choosing the opposite. Read more from a ‘real life’ minimalist. >>Check It Out

How much do you think responsibly made jeans should cost? Maybe not as much as you think. Here’s a look at what goes into making ethical denim, and a rule of thumb on what you should expect to spend. >>Go See

I just finished Me Before You, and I’m not sure what I think. Have you read it? What did you think? (Please use **spoiler** tags if necessary.)

And… Happy Father’s Day to my sweetheart and my middle. <3

  1. I read the book last summer and I loved it! It made me want to live a fuller life, doing the things I love to do with the people that I love. But I don’t want to see the movie, ever! Ha!

    1. I think I agree with – I’m not sure I want to see the movie either, haha! I watched the trailer right after I finished the book and yeah, that did not go well. I am not sure I’d want to pay money to go do that…

Those are some great takeaways from reading the book!

  2. That book is on my list to read this summer! I love Miss Minimalists blog. It was her book, Miss Minimalists, that turned me on to a more simple way of living several years ago. I keep a fairly minimal calendar and my husband and I both make time every day for sitting quietly, reading or chatting with out electronics in the mix. Great links this week!!!

    1. That is fascinating Rebecca! I will have to check out her book. Your approach to life is so inspiring to me, and I’d love to read what has inspired you!
