Home + Style:
Wow, if time and money were no object, I would love my home to look like this. Lived in, loved, well-designed, and eclectic while still being cohesive. Sounds perfect, right? Also, proof that decor with a story is the best, and that you can never have too many plants.

Minimalism:
Did you guys shop on Black Friday? Joshua Becker is offering a new approach to the ‘retail holiday’ and I really like it.
This family is choosing a life that’s ‘low on stuff and high on adventure‘ and they’re using a school bus (!!) to do it.
A few notable Kickstarters that have come across my desk:
Have you guys heard of the Pin Project? It’s a simple opportunity to support refugee communities around the world. I highly recommend clicking through and watching the very short (1:40) video.
And, a new, ethical underwear brand, that uses 100% organic materials and gives back with every purchase made.
On Social Media:
I’ve been taking the last few days off of Instagram. It’s been a much needed hiatus from a space that often consumes excess time and attention and draws me away from the actual real live people in my life. I’m afraid to abstain too long – it’s a place I love to connect with people and share the newest content I’m working on for the blog. With that in mind, I’d love to know – how many of you rely on finding out about new S+S content from Instagram? Or, how many of you found the blog through Instagram?
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I check the blog regularly and usually see instagram updates about blog posts after the fact!
Thanks Alice!
I don’t use Instagram. Ever.
I found your blog when I wanted to switch to a capsule and was looking for inspiration…then got hooked on ethical fashion too! So, thanks for the inspiration!
Love your blog and I don’t care a bit about Instagram.
Good to know. Thanks Ophelia!
I stopped using instagram about 6 months ago. I use bloglovin or email subscriptions to stay up to date with my favorite blogs (yours included).
Thanks Michelle. I’d love to hear more about why you stopped using Instagram.
I use instagram, but not for blog following. I wouldn’t miss it if you stopped using :-)
Thanks Lesley!
I’m thinking about quitting Instagram in the new year. I’ve already got my post written, but haven’t gotten up the nerve to schedule it yet. Instagram is an afterthought for me. Have you seen Ingrid Goes West?
Oh Leah, do tell me more!! Perhaps you’re being bogged down by the same things as me??
I just looked up the trailer for Ingrid Goes West, it’s on my list now! Looks fascinating!
I believe I found your blog through Instagram, but I keep up with the blogs I read regularly through bookmarks in Chrome. Because of Instagram’s algorithm, I almost always see notifications about new posts a day or two after I’ve read them.
I still enjoy using the platform (it’s great for inspiration and establishing connections) but I’ve moved the Instagram app off of my phone’s homescreen to help avoid getting sucked in at random times, like while waiting in line or before heading to bed.
Whether you’re on or off Instagram, I’ll still check regularly here :)
That’s really interesting. That damn algorithm.
Good idea on moving the app off your homescreen!
Thank you for your support Krystal, love having you as a part of this community. Love your blog as well!
I found you through Instagram… but phew, it can be tough to separate life and work when Instagram is part of your job! I’m hoping to be better about that in the coming months, too. Good on you, lady.
Thanks Celia, I can tell you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s like food, I can’t give it up, but I have to know how to use it well. I think I need an Instagram diet, haha.
Do you have any recommendations for sustainably/ethically made bras? I’ve been on the hunt for several months now, and everything is either European (nothing wrong with that, but I’m hesitant to buy clothes from overseas in case of returns) or ThirdLove seems to be very spotty on styles/sizing.
This has been a big area of struggle for me, as all I typically come across are bralettes. About a year ago, I finally settled on ThirdLove, because their half cup sizing works very well for me. I’ve tried undies from White Rabbit, but it looks like they have some regular cup bras too! https://www.whiterabbitny.com/collections/bras
Thanks! I’ll check it out.
Adding to the chorus here- I don’t rely on Instagram to keep up with your blog. Similar to some other commenters I found your blog pursuing interest in capsuling (via Pinterest, as I recall). I actually prefer the satisfaction of the “long format” blog, clicking over through a bookmark, finding the little joy of a new post and reading it start to finish; this is more satisfying Than the insta experience of flicking past a new photo. I honestly feel a little weird about OOTD posts on Instagram; I can’t shake the underlying “hot or not” vibe. Good luck as you navigate finding the right balance for you.
Hi! I’m the girl with the bus!
So I found you because of your linkback Tony story and now I’m excited to dig in and see what’s going on around here! I’m finding that most of my bus brethren are on IG and it’s become an invaluable tool for meeting people and bouncing ideas around.
Haha, love your into! Hi Dana!! Glad to have you! Agreed, IG can be an invaluable tool when used properly. I have learned sooo much on there over the years about everything from style to recipes and nutrition, to home decor! And I’ve made real life friends because of it! :)
